Thing 36 - Photo Editing

The picture with the text Summer Hibiscus was edited using photo editor Picnik. I enjoy taking pictures and I found this site very easy to use. I already have quite a few pictures stored in photobucket and Flickr so I like the flexibility of being able to upload pictures from those sites. Picnik Release 28 is their

Thing 35 - Mini or Microblogging

The term "Microblogging" is used to describe short posts which contain no more than 140 characters. The site I chose to explore is Jaiku and opened an account. It is free and is also considered a networking service because you can find friends and receive updates about their blogs, their Flickr pictures, etc...I have not figured out yet how to post my minblogs or "jaikus" using Instant Messenger. Reading Wikepedia I found out that Jaiku was founded on July 2

Getting Healthy Online

FitDay is a great website for those who want to keep track of the nutritional value of the food they eat daily. I am definitely into eating well and watching calories. It's so easy to gain but such hard work to maintain the ideal weight. The hard part was remembering what food I had eaten today. I was able to find out approximately how many calories I consumed today and the nutritional value of each food I had listed. For those who want to lose a few pounds the We… Continue

Online Art

For my Online art I chose: Mr Picasso Head. I did not spend much time on this exercise. I did take the time to view the Art Gallery. This would be a useful site for children who are doing research on Picasso and his paintings.

Here's the link to my Online art - My painting's title "El Calvo". Spanish word for "The Bald One" http://www.mrpicassohead.com/canvas.html?id

Hi Aura,
Glad you liked the Questing Librarian Movie Poster. I had fun making it. Even more fun coming up with the "credits". Mary Kyle wants me to come up with a storyline so we can make a little movie at studio i. Hmm...getting creative juices going...:)

I'm having a lot of fun learning...Check out Fancygems. You can add Widgets to decorate your page. That is me in the middle of the picture, my daughter Andrea and grandsons, Caleb and Taite. Follow the steps to copy the embed code, click on the hyperlink button and paste the code.

Sounds like Ning is similar to MySpace and Facebook but with a specific group in mind. I've thought about getting accounts on both of those just to see what they are like. I'm glad to see that you have been getting the help you needed from Jamie. I'll have to check out your Stitch In Blog. I'll be training with Natalie on Thursday for the Gameing Zone Blog **fingers crossed**
That sounds really neat about Plaxo. I'll have to tell my sister about it. Her fiance is in the Marines. You can see a picture of them both in a Staff Org newsletter from the spring. I cant remember which issue. March I think.
Shes in a formal red dress and he's in his military dress blues.

P.S. Ursula J, one our teen librarians, is also interesting in getting on board for Learning 2.1. You will probably see her on the network before long. Our goal is to be caught up by Staff Day. Big goal I know but we can wish ;)

Hi Aura - I've been wanting to do this for a while--it's all been about timing really. I hope to catch up to what you guys have been doing over the next couple of weeks. I'm also going to be taking over the Gameing Zone Blog from Natalie M. in Telephone Reference. We're going to try and hammer out how to do a calendar that is easier to maintain than the one that is on there now. Thx for the comment. I'm still fumbling around in Ning. What features about Ning to you like or dislike? I work at IRL. I'll definately check out Plaxo since you recommended it. I've been getting great use out of Zamzar with patrons. File conversion for printing is a great patron service. Delete Comment
